The ABC machine’s main spindle uses a high-torque hollow shaft synchronous motor with patented air-cooled spindle, which delivers 20 kW of power at 100% DC. Low air pressure in the head spindle prevents femulsion ingress, while the rotor, end windings and stator are directly cooled. The spindle features short acceleration time, no mechanical gears, low rotating masses for maximum smoothness and high torsional stiffness.

The synchronous ABC spindle with a maximum speed of 4,500 rpm allows clamping of collet bushings up to 42 mm or chuck diameters of 90 mm and also allows internal clamping. The spindle is equipped with an adjustment and indexing unit as standard. The synchronous spindle is driven separately from the central drive by means of a spur gear on a dedicated turret station.
